Datasnipper can do so much - but what feature does it not have, that you wish it did, that would help with the Financial Reporting component? And what is the mess of a process you have to go through now that you with Datasnipper could help with?
Datasnipper is a great add on to excel and has catapulted auditing into a new era of technology. With that said there are some frustrations with the tool. For instance:
- Even after using the OCR feature, when snipping documents with figures that have commas, data snipper does not pick up these commas and inserts incorrect amounts into the working paper. This limitation further affects other features such as sum all.
- When snipping a table, Data snipper sometimes does not align the columns and rows it extracted to excel with the rows and columns as per the supporting documentation. The frustration with this is that to correct the columns and rows, I would need to delete/add or move these lines one by one which is time consuming.
What if you could effectively snip tables from within financial statement suite? where you have complex notes which the simple ‘addition’ casting tool doesn’t work it can be quicker to check the casting in Excel than use the (now improved) calculator on each row/column of the table individually.
It would be great if there was a way to link the financials to the audit work performed on file over and beyond using comments. Something to push the user to include this referencing
