On our team, we have identified a widespread issue with the DataSnipper plugin disabled. Every time we open a new Excel file we must activate the add-in from the Excel settings, the add-in does not remain active.

We haven’t experienced the same but it depends on exactly which DataSnipper version you have etc. It’s more likely that something else in your tech environment is causing the issue, have your IT team investigated?

Hey Andrea!

Sorry to hear that’s happening, but I would agree with James above. The first step should be to make sure you are on the latest version (v6.1.x is the current latest one). If you are not, reach out to your CSM and they can very easily and quickly get you a downloader link.

Then if that continues, it is probably something from your tech stack that I would expect to be interfering with Excel add-ins (DataSnipper included).

I have some steps that we shared with an IT team in the past to review and fix something similar, so at that point you might want to share them with your IT team (if just being on the latest version doesn’t work):

Datasnipper is able to run by default in Excel by means of a registry entry. This registry key is located in the registry editor at
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\Datasnipper.Addin

In there, there is a file called Load Behaviour. Load Behaviour must be set to 3 in order for it to start up with your excel everytime. If the load behaviour is not 3, then it should solve your problem if you change the value to 3.If the problem reoccurs it means something is preventing the load behaviour being set.We now have to verify if there anything preventing 'DataSnipperStartupService.exe' from running.
This process runs from the installation directory at
C:/Program Files (x86)/DataSnipper/ and is responsible for setting the LoadBehavior registry entry to 3 automatically so that you don't need to do this manually such as with the above steps.

If this process is running, and the LoadBehavior is set to 3, then I would recommend checking the following registry key:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Excel\Resiliency\DoNotDisableAddinListHere you can add a DWORD for 'DataSnipper.Addin' and ensure the value is set to 1.

Though the above might seem a little confusing, I believe your IT team will know what to do with it @Andrea Hernandez :)

Let us know if this helped!
