Is there anyway to stop Datasnipper loading up when open a spreadsheet - each time it opens you have to wait while the PDFs load up. But often I don’t want to reference a PDF so it delays opening files, particularly files with lots of PDFs.

Hi @James12345

You can try the solutions below:

Quick disable via Excel:

  • Go to File > Options > Add-ins
  • Select "COM Add-ins" from the dropdown and click Go
  • Uncheck the box next to DataSnipper and click OK

Registry method (more permanent):

  • Set the LoadBehavior registry value to "0" (disabled) under:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\DataSnipper.Addin

Hope that helps!

Out of curiosity, under M365, would opening up the spreadsheet in the web version instead of the desktop version allow to load without activating Datasnipper? Probably requires that the add-in for the web version is not enabled? It may offer a quicker way - the user can choose how he opens instead of having to disable/enable Datasnipper add-in.

Yes, indeed. Opening the web version will not automatically activate DataSnipper.
